A new feature to Alchemy 8.3 SR4 and beyond is the ability to publish a reference to your Alchemy Server in the Active Directory of Microsoft Windows domains. After publishing the Alchemy Server, users can easily see all the published servers in the open database dialogs without having to navigate the network nodes in Administrator, Search, Index Station and MFP clients.

NOTE:

Publishing Alchemy Server requires user credentials of a user that is a member of the Enterprise Admins Active Directory group. If you login with Enterprise domain credentials the change made is registered in the Active Di-rectory.

Open the Properties Dialog of Alchemy Server Console

Open the Alchemy Server Console from All Programs > Alchemy > Server. Expand the Alchemy Server node in the tree pane and Right-Click on your server name (1). From the context menu that displays, Left-Click on Properties (2).

Change the Publish State and Display Name

From the Alchemy Server Properties Dialog:

1. Select the Publish Server property tab.

2. Enable the Publish this Server radio button.

3. Enter a Server Display Name that best represents the Alchemy Server to your installed user community.

4. Click OK to apply your desired settings.

Publishing Alchemy Server requires user credentials of a user that is a member of the Enterprise Admins Active Directory group. If you login with Enterprise domain credentials the change made is registered in the Active Directory.

Entering Enterprise Admin Credentials

If you have not logged in with Enterprise User credentials, a window will prompt you to enter a User Name and Password of a member of the Enterprise Admins Active Directory group to proceed.

Opening Databases in Alchemy Desktop Clients

All published Alchemy Servers now show up in the Alchemy Servers node of the Open Database dialog when browsing the Alchemy Server. Users no longer need to browse through the Network node to find the server amongst all other machines in the network.
